Tau (T) is a sign of Christian and Franciscan commitment, a sign of PEACE. As the last letter in the Hebrew script, T served as a signature for some time. In the book of the prophet Ezekiel, it is a sign of election: those who are marked with it on their foreheads are under God's special protection. In the New Testament we come across "God's seal on the forehead" as a sign of final salvation. Tau has the shape of the cross of Christ and for this reason this sign becomes very early the image and sign of the cross, a sign of salvation and blessing. After the meeting with the Crucified in St. Damian, where Francis received the invitation and thus entered into the dynamics of life that the Risen One handed over to him, Francis chooses as his sign - the sign of T. Tau summarizes all the dynamics of life and movement of God's and man's history. God and man always together.
